Outstanding in Our Fields
We raised $11,200! Thank You Sampson County for making our second event an Outstanding Success!
Our second Outstanding in Our Fields event, "The Bounty," was held Saturday, September 20th at the Prestage family's private retreat, the South River Hunting Lodge. It was a fabulous farm to table dining event set in a beautiful venue and enjoyed by numerous guests.
Five of our local chefs participated in this six-course gourmet dining experience enjoyed in the ambience of the rustic yet upscale lodge overlooking the tranquil water. The guests were served by the United Way Board of Directors who donned aprons to wait on tables and man the bar.
The evening began with stuffed mushrooms and turkey pinwheels prepared by Theresa Ellis and Laura Goodrich of Simply Southern Catering. The butlered hors d'oeuvres were followed by the plated grilled prawns with a remoulade sauce prepared by Joanie Babcock of Southern Exposure. Next, guests enjoyed a unique butternut squash bisque uniquely created by Jorge Soza and Trey Cummings of Ribeyes. A refreshing fall harvest salad with champaign dressing prepared by Alfredo DiPinto of Alfredo's Ristorante Italiano followed. The main course featured Pork Osso Bucco with sweet potato gravy uniquely created by Joanie Babcock. The finishing touch to this five star gourmet event included pumpkin cheesecake with brown butter pears and toasted pecan tart with bourbon cream prepared by Debbie Valenti as of debalicious private catering.
Thank you to all in our community who attended as guests and to our sponsors who made the event possible.
The event raised $11,200 and these proceeds will allow United Way of Sampson County to continue improving the lives of residents living in our county and provide positive community impact through our partner agencies and programs.
